Role Summary
The Electronics & Controller Specialist will be responsible for the design, development, integration, testing, troubleshooting, and validation of electronic control systems used in Refroid's cooling and thermal-management products.
The role will involve close collaboration with Mechanical, Thermal, Electrical, Firmware/Software, Product Development, Manufacturing, Quality, and Service teams to develop reliable controller and electronics solutions for cooling equipment. The ideal candidate should have hands-on experience in programable logic controllers, industrial automation, sensors, control systems, PCB/electronics, communication protocols, instrumentation, and product testing.
Key Responsibilities
1. Electronics Architecture & Product Development
Design and develop electronic control systems for cooling and thermal-management products.
Define electronics architecture for CDUs, cooling systems, pumps, valves, fans, sensors, actuators, and monitoring systems.
Select appropriate microcontrollers, processors, sensors, communication interfaces, drivers, relays, power supplies, and other electronic components.
Develop system-level block diagrams, schematics, wiring/interface diagrams, and electronics architecture documentation.
Participate in new product development from concept through prototype, validation, and production release.
Support Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Reliability (DFR) activities.
2. PLC-SCADA & Control Systems
Develop and integrate programable logical controllers for cooling and thermal-management applications.
Develop control logic for:
Pumps
Fans
Valves
Compressors
Temperature control
Pressure monitoring
Flow control
Liquid level monitoring
Safety interlocks
Alarm and fault conditions
Implement closed-loop control strategies where applicable.
Design, configure and deploy intuitive HMI screens and SCADA systems for real time monitoring.
Work with PID/control algorithms for temperature, pressure, flow, and other process parameters.
3. Sensors & Instrumentation
Select, integrate, calibrate, and troubleshoot sensors used in thermal-management systems.
Experience with sensors such as:
Temperature sensors
Pressure sensors
Differential pressure sensors
Flow sensors/meters
Humidity sensors
Liquid level sensors
Current/voltage sensors
Leak detection sensors
Develop appropriate signal-conditioning and interface circuits.
Ensure sensor accuracy, reliability, calibration, and signal integrity.
4. Communication Protocols
Strong understanding and hands-on experience with industrial communication protocols such as:
Modbus RTU / TCP
RS-485
CAN / CAN-FD
UART
SPI
I2C
Ethernet
MQTT
TCP/IP
BACnet / OPC-UA is an added advantage.
Integrate controllers with BMS, SCADA, PLC, cloud dashboards, and monitoring platforms.
Troubleshoot communication and interoperability issues between controllers and external systems.
Support development of communication maps, registers, addressing, and interface documentation.
5. PCB & Electronics Development
Review PCB layouts for signal integrity, grounding, EMI/EMC considerations, thermal performance, and manufacturability.
Support selection of:
MOSFETs
Relays
Drivers
ICs
Connectors
Power supplies
Protection components
Communication interfaces
Review component ratings and electrical safety requirements.
Support prototype PCB bring-up and debugging.
6. Firmware & Embedded Software
Work with firmware developers to define control requirements and system functionality.
Develop or review embedded firmware for controllers where required.
Debug firmware and hardware integration issues.
Support implementation of:
Fault detection
Alarm handling
Data logging
Sensor monitoring
Control loops
Safety interlocks
System diagnostics
Experience with Embedded C/C++ will be preferred.
7. Testing & Validation
Develop electronics and controller test plans and test procedures.
Perform functional testing of controllers and electronic systems.
Conduct Hardware-in-the-Loop (HIL) or system-level testing where applicable.
Perform sensor validation and calibration.
Conduct environmental and reliability testing.
Support EMI/EMC testing and troubleshooting.
Identify root causes of hardware, firmware, communication, and control-system failures.
Implement corrective and preventive actions.
8. Product Integration
Integrate electronics and controllers with mechanical, thermal, electrical, and software systems.
Work with Thermal and Electrical Engineers to ensure proper control of cooling equipment.
Support integration of controllers with:
Pumps
Fans
Compressors
Valves
Heat exchangers
CDUs
Cooling loops
Data-center monitoring systems
Participate in prototype builds and system commissioning.
9. Troubleshooting & Root Cause Analysis
Diagnose hardware, controller, sensor, communication, and control-system failures.
Perform systematic root-cause analysis using tools such as:
Oscilloscope
Multimeter
Logic analyzer
Power analyzer
CAN/Modbus diagnostic tools
Electronic test equipment
Analyze field failures and customer issues.
Implement design improvements to improve product reliability and serviceability.
10. Engineering Documentation
Prepare and maintain:
Electronics architecture documents
Schematics
Wiring/interface diagrams
BOM
Component specifications
Controller specifications
I/O lists
Communication maps
Sensor specifications
Test procedures

Mandatory:
B.E./B.Tech in Electronics & Communication Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Electrical & Electronics Engineering, Instrumentation Engineering, or related discipline.
Preferred:
M. Tech/M.E. in Electronics, Control Systems, Control & Instrumentation, or related field.
